Our client Pelckmans from Turhout (Belgium) wanted a wide span greenhouse with a roof in the shape of an open sky. You had to be able to open the roof as much as possible for the part that would be housing outdoor plants. Our Research & Development team developed a completely new system for this with unique, tailor-made aluminium profiles.
The greenhouse was completely constructed on top of the underground car park.
The area in-between the greenhouse and the office buildings was closed with an 8° sloping roof made of double glazing (the triangle building). Various smoke hatches were also provided.
An atrium was installed on top of the structure of the industrial building. It operates as a skylight above the central escalators of the garden centre. Special smoke hatches were included with pneumatic operation.
