Future Garden Centres

Thermoflor's garden centre concepts find their way to the market

As international garden-centre builders we have always been closely involved in de-velopments in our branch, from its pioneering days some 25 years ago right through to its present mature phase.

Having arrived at the present stage of maturity we felt the time had come to consider what requirements garden centres of the future should meet. Would they be the same structures we are now familiar with or are there perhaps already early signs of trends to which we should be responding with our building plans?

After several brainstorming sessions with trend watchers, architects and designers we last year introduced three forms of new garden-centre structures, each with its own specific characteristics and a style of its own. These concepts we have characterised under the headings of Modern, Nature and Classic.

With this initiative we hoped to prompt fresh thoughts on future forms of garden cen-tres. Our efforts were met with enthusiasm in the media and in the entire sector. And we indeed achieved our goal of offering people food for thought: the sector re-sponded with comments and recommendations for each concept.

A year has meanwhile past and in that year we have processed those comments on our three concepts and have adapted the designs accordingly. We are now ready to present our mature views on future Garden Centres.
