C-Mill Heerlen (NL)
New lease of life for old factory
At C-Mill, the former site of a Philips factory in the Dutch town of Heerlen, we are building a Venlo-style greenhouse to make a factory hall suitable for letting. The project was commissioned by C’Magne, a specialist in finding new uses for old buildings.
In this remarkable design the greenhouse will be erected literally inside the factory and will have a total floor area of 538 m². The greenhouse’s ridge height has been meticulously calculated to run just under the air-conditioning and heating systems and the strip lighting present in the factory hall. Allowance has also been made for the arrangement of the windows in the factory’s walls and the various heating pipes running through the building.
Metal-stud walls in the greenhouse will enable tenants to rent separate compartments for their businesses.
