Purchasing experience comes to life in the new Waterdrinker Green Trade Center

Sunday 18 February director Bob Moria of Waterdrinker Aalsmeer was given the keys to Waterdrinker Green Trade Center (GTC).On an area of 25,000 m2, a hundred shop-in-shop growers and breeders will present their innovations and specialities – making the GTC the largest shopping experience and source of inspiration of international allure for the European plant and flower industry.

Complete store experience
The reason for opening a new wholesale trading centre is the current trend in which customers are increasingly on the lookout for experience, knowledge and inspiration. Waterdrinker is confident that by building the Green Trade Center, it is responding to this requirement by offering a complete store experience.

Another important motivation has been improving climatic conditions compared to those of the existing cash & carry. Thanks to the GTC’s greenhouse structure, daylight can be enjoyed and there are a number of ventilation options. The greenhouse that Thermoflor built specially for this purpose (with additional ventilation options) plays a part in the vast expansion of the nursery range.

The 17,000 m2 greenhouse comprises:
• 12 roofs, each with a width of 18 m
• an anthracite coated, galvanised steel structure
• an eaves height of 8 m
• 28 motors for opening the ventilation windows

In the GTC, otherwise known as the “Home of the Grower”, breeders, growers, suppliers and customers come into direct contact with one another thanks to a shop-in-shop formula. The aim of the weekly on-site meetings is to share innovation, inspiration and knowledge with one another.
